JEDDAH/LAHORE - All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chief Mirwaiz Umer Farooq while acknowledging the contribution of Nawa-i-Waqt Group for Kashmir cause, said that it was the only media group in Pakistan which always stood for the rights of Kashmiris and especially supported Kashmir freedom movement.

Freedom fighters respect Majid Nizami a lot, he added. The APHC Chief felicitated Nawa-i-Waqt Editor-in-Chief Majid Nizami for his selfless contribution for five decades in journalism and acknowledged his efforts for the internationalisation of the Kashmir issue.

He said that the aggrieved people of Kashmir were obliged to the group for highlighting the Indian aggression towards them. He said freedom fighters pray that may Almighty Allah give long life to Majid Nizami with good life.

Kashmir Freedom Movement leader Barrister Abdul Majeed Tarambo, Prof Nazir Shwal and Prof Shamim Shwal said that the role of Nawa-i-Waqt was eminent in highlighting the woes of Kashmiris and the Indian propaganda.

In the meanwhile, Jamaate Ahle Hadees Chief Hafiz Ibtesam Elahi congratulated Majid Nizami for marking 50 years in journalism and resisting the pressure of the establishment. He said that like Zafar Ali Khan, Majid Nizami defied factors against national interest and worked altruistically for the people of Pakistan and Kashmir.

He said that Mr Nizami was an exemplary journalist who had set standards of fair journalism in Pakistan.
