Indeed, there are numerous NGOs in Pakistan that gobble up funds given to them for development. They are pocketing millions of dollars from foreign donor agencies in the name of welfare of women and children in rural Pakistan. But unfortunately, nothing is being done for the overall wellbeing of women and children in rural Pakistan in particular, in upper and lower Sindh districts.
As a result, the women and children still continue to be the victim of draconian social traditions. It is noticed that the NGOs which lure the donors and stash money, they are, indeed, experts at babbling and doing nothing to save women and children of my country. They are adept at marketing the miseries of ill-fated women and children.
Had those NGOs spent even a tiny portion of their funds which they got from the national and international donors, the landscape would have completely changed. Our womenfolk would have become intellectually, emotionally and economically independent. Such women are the need of the hour. However, the donor agencies are appealed to finance only the genuine NGOs which are virtually working in the field for the wellbeing of women and children in Pakistan and not those who spend day in and day out in the lobbies and rooms of the five and four star hotels in the mega cities. If the international community wants tolerant and progressive Pakistan then they must have to identify the genuine people and their NGOs.
