PESHAWAR - To educate tribal people of FR Kohat about the amended Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) law, seminars were organised in various parts of the locality.
A social welfare organization, the Frontier Rural Support Organisation (FRSO) in collaboration with STEP, a non governmental organization (NGO), under its “Navy Sahar” project arranged ten awareness programmes on FCR in Darra Adamkhel area of FR Kohat. Besides, printed copies of amended FCR and contact directories were also distributed among the tribal people that would help tribesmen in various legal matters.
Similarly, the STEP also constituted two civil society committees that would provide basic information to tribesmen regarding the amended FCR, said a press release issued on Thursday. It was added that the stated committees would also contact with the relevant government departments and local influential.
These committees would also extend legal support to local people by making their contact with the lawyers, whereas access to FATA Tribunal would also be made easy. The local tribesmen also hailed the community awareness seminars for locals, funded by a US funded project that would extend legal support to tribesmen.
