Five gangs busted, 29 suspects held

BAHAWALPUR
Police during the first two months of 2014 busted 5 gangs of criminals besides resolving two murder cases here.
Bahawalpur Regional Police Officer Shahid Hanif said this in a report sent to Chief Minister’s Secretariat Lahore. He said that the police arrested dozens of members of different gangs including Kaleem Mansoor, Riaz, Mukhtar, Papoo Baloch, Amjad Malkana, Shahzad, Sunati Darkhan, Muhammad Yar and Yari Jhand. He added that out of the 34 outlaws, 31 had been arrested. The police recovered valuables including one tractor, 6 motorcycles and large number of stolen livestock worth Rs7 million, he said.
He further said that during the period, six suspects out top 10 wanted men were arrested including Somra who had 1 million bounty on his head. They were wanted in murder, burglary and police encounters. According to the report, 115 of Category A and 686 of Category B wanted men were arrested.
Police traced the murder case of Muhammad Nawaz. It was registered with Police Station Yazman. The police arrested Taj Muhammad along with the instrumental. According to the report, police also resolved the murder case of Ambreen Bibi who was allegedly killed by her husband Muhammad Arshad and another person.
Police arrested an accused for sexually abusing a 10-year-old boy. In Baghadadul Jadeed Police Station Bahawalpur’s jurisdiction, a 5-year-old boy was kidnapped for ransom. He was recovered after his family paid the ransom of Rs150,000. However, the police arrested Abdullah from District Khanewal and recovered the ransom amount.
The regional police officer further said that police had recovered a large amount of illegal weapons and drugs including 24 Kalashnikovs, 13 rifles, 128 pistols, 20 revolvers, 72 carbines and 454 cartridges. It arrested 272 drug addicts and recovered 83 kilogram of chars and 20574 bottles of liquor.
