LAHORE - PTI Punjab President, Ijaz Chaudhry has said that he is not bound to appear before the Punjab Assembly Privilege Committee to clarify his position concerning his claims against Deputy Speaker, Sher Ali Gorchani.

He said this while addressing a Press conference at party’s provincial Secretariat on Thursday.  Ijaz had alleged Gorchani in a TV talk show some days back for destructing forest land in Dera Ghazi Khan for his personal benefits.  While, he had been served with a notice through Provincial Law Minister for appearing before Punjab Assembly Privilege Committee to clarify his position.  He said, “I am not bound to appear before Punjab Assembly Privilege Committee, while the provincial Law Minister can file a suit against him in a court of law and I will appear before the court to establish my claims against the Deputy Speaker.”

He demanded of the provincial Environment Department to assess the damage of deforesting in Dera Ghazi Khan by the actions of the Deputy Speaker so that the Opposition could plead the case on the floor of the House.

Ijaz also demanded that Punjab Chief Minister and provincial Law Minister should ensure that no more deforestation would be carried out in Dera Ghazi Khan to protect the environment.
