DASKA (STAFF REPORTER): Police have added sections 8, C-A and 3-1 of the Anti Terrorism Act to an FIR registered against two brothers of Mitraanwali village here for showing pro-Taliban documentaries and preaching in favour of the militants.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shoaib Cheema said that after inclusion of the Act’s three sections, the case against Shafiqur Rehman and Aneesur Rehman had been forwarded to Anti Terrorism Court in Gujranwala.

He revealed that the Daska police produced the accused before the anti terrorism court amid tight security. Meanwhile, the police sought extension in the physical remand already given a magisterial court of Daska for conducting identification of the armed men repeatedly shown in the pro-Taliban documentaries and photographs.

On the occasion, the ATC granted a three-day physical remand of the accused till March 29, 2014. The DSP disclosed that a three-member special probing team had also been formulated to ensure transparency. The team comprises inspectors Riaz Ahmed, Arif Ali  and Nasir Warraich.

During the investigation, the police have recovered more such CDs and DVDs from the accused. The police have started identification of the armed accused shown in the films.

On March 17, 2014, the police had registered a case against the accused for showing the films at their drawing room-cum-medical store. According to the FIR, the brothers had arranged a special show of a documentary in favour of the Taliban. The accused also preached Talibanisation.

The FIR revealed that the practice was against the national interest.
