SWABI -  Teachers of the public educational institutions, Swabi on Thursday decided that they would not take part in the ongoing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s “Sehat Ka Insaf” programme to immunise children against polio disease.

The first anti-polio campaign is scheduled in the district on April 6, followed by another campaign on April 13 and last drive has been planned on April 20.

The teachers’ meeting held at the Government Middle School, Swabi was chaired by All Teacher Association (ATA) Swabi President Abdul Latif.

Addressing on the occasion, Abdul Latif said that the teachers’ job was to impart education to students not to carry out health related campaigns. He demanded the district administration to involve medical staff to conduct the anti-polio campaign.

Meanwhile, a meeting to discuss provision of security to polio campaigners across the district was held here at the DPO office.

The meeting was attended by DIG Mardan Said Wazir, DPO Sajjad Khan, Dr Yaqub, EPI in charge Dr Liaquat, District Support Manager of People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Swabi President Anwar Haq Dad Khan and other. The meeting decided that foolproof security would be provided to the workers of anti-polio drive.
