ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Davis Cup Asia Oceania Group-II preparations suffered another blow, as ace star Aisamul Haq Qureshi refused to come to Islamabad for getting the visa of Philippine.

Aisam never played Davis Cup tie in Philippine therefore their embassy wants personal appearance of Aisam as per requirement. Time fast running out and the tie is scheduled to be played from April 4-6. The inside sources have confirmed that Aisam refused to come to Islamabad and asked the PTF to arrange visa or he will not travel with the team. When this scribe contacted Aisam to seek his point of view, despite several efforts, the tennis ace didn’t pick the call, event didn’t bother to call back or reply to texts.

When this scribe contacted Ehtesham, father of Aisam, to seek his point of view, he said: “It is the duty of the federation to arrange Philippine visa for Aisam. He had returned last night from US and is very tired so the PTF should contact embassy and arrange visa for all the players.”

The situation is going fast out of control from the PTF, as today (Friday), visas of other players will be issued. The PTF is striving hard to arrange visa for Aisam in his absence, but it seems highly unlikely that the Philippine embassy issue visa to Aisam in his absence. The PTF can’t do anything in this regard because rules are to follow and other thing is that the tie is not being played in Pakistan so the players and the federation have to follow the rules. It the national duty of Aisam to come to Islamabad and appear before Philippine embassy so that he may get his visa and he may represent the country which gave him name and fame and in reply, he should earn good name and fame for it.

PTF chief Kaleem Imam said that it was also possible Samir Iftikhar might join the team in Philippine as his inclusion in the squad would help the team in delivering and earning laurels for the country.
