ISLAMABAD - Acting Director General Pakistan Sports Board said here Tuesday that the board had issued notices to all the national federations which were not following the national sports policy. "I have directed the Deputy Director General PSB to take action against the federations which are violating the national sports policy and he has issued written notices and asked them to follow the policy that was approved by the federal cabinet in 2001," he said. Anwar said that PSB had served notices on the Pakistan Amateur Boxing Federation (PABF), Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF), Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association (PBSA), Pakistan Karate Federation (PKF), Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF, National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP), Pakistan Amateur Handball Federation (PAHF), Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF), Adventure Federation of Pakistan (AFP)and Pakistan Shootingball Federation (PSF). "We have directed them to give up positions they have been occupying for more than two tenures against the sports policy," he added. He said that the objective of the PSB and the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) was same: promoting sports in the country. "President POA, Lt. Gen (retd) Syed Arif Hasan is doing well for the promotion of sports and all the sports related organisations should work jointly for the uplift of sports in the country," he said. "SM Ghaznavi from PABF, Idris Haider Khawja from PCF, Muhammad Shafiq from PAHF, Muir Ahmed Dar from PKF, Muhammad Jahangir from PKF, Jawaid Lodhi from NRAP, Major (Retd) Muhammad Afzal from PVF, Choudhary Muhammad Aslam from PWF, Brig (retd) Jan Nadar Khan AFP, Col (retd) GH Qamar from AFP, Asghar Valika from PBSA, Aspi Mavalvala from PBSA, Wahid Tawawalla from PBSA and Choudhary Muhammad Saleem from PSF are violating the national sports policy and have occupied the seats in their respective federation," he said. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Sports has included the names of two senior officers of the Pakistan Sports Board in the list of candidates for the post of Director General that will be vacant on May 31. Acting DG PSB Muhammd Anwar Khan said that they had proposed the names of Dr. Waheed Mughal and Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Gunjera for the post. "We will select the DG entirely on merit. We asked these two top officers to submit their documents, as the last DG, Lt Col (retd) Salahuddin, will complete his two years contract on May 31, as he has gone on leave for 23 days," he added.
