LAHORE - Lawyers, civil society, traders, workers, politicians and others have demanded immediate reinstatement of the deposed judges while terming the constitutional package a ploy to buy time to ultimately push the issue to the backburner. Lawyers, doctors, professors, traders, civil society members, ulema, and students shared their views at a meeting held at Punjab Bar Council office here on Tuesday and decided to demand restoration of the judges without any delay while rejecting the constitutional amendment package being brought in by the PPP. They said Murree Declaration was sufficient to put the judges back to their jobs while the package was merely a measure to delay the restoration. The meeting also sought separation of PCO judges from the judiciary. It strongly condemned American interference in the national affairs of Pakistan and urged the Political leadership of the country not to hold talk with the American visitors and limit them to the ministry of foreign affairs as per the diplomatic decorum. The meeting also finalised arrangements for the Adlia Bahali Long march on June 11 and 12 and in order to mobilise the public to the march, they also decided to place banners and hold conventions at main spots in the city, besides urging the ulema to give sermons on the value of independent judiciary on Friday. The meeting also announced to take out a torch-bearing rally on June 9. Those who attended the meeting included vice president SCBA Ghulam Nabi Bhatti, secretary LHCBA Rana Asadullah Khan, president District Bar Lahore Manzoor Qadir and secretary Latif Sarra, convenor coordinator committee of lawyers, doctors, professors Ziaullah Khan, president Lahore Tax Bar Mohsin Nadeem, Irfan Hassan of Tahreek Insaaf, Shoaib Niazi of PML(N), Justice (r) Nasira Iqbal and others. JI rally for AQ Khan's release Jamat Islami organised a rally here on Tuesday for the release of Dr AQ Khan and restoration of the deposed judges including Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Naib Amir Jamat Islami Liaquat Baloch, Farid Ahmed Piracha, Amirul Azeem, Shahid Naveed Malik, political workers and people from different walks of life participated in the rally which started from Gulshan-e-Ravi and ended at Moon Market. The participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with the demands of restoration of judges and release of Dr AQ Khan.
