LAHORE - Pakistan Muslim League (Q) as a retaliation on Wednesday released a recorded mobile conversation, allegedly of a PML (N) MNA Sheikh Rohail Asghar who is heard threatening an independent candidate Syed Naeem Shahzad contesting from PP-154 against Mian Shahbaz Sharif. PML-Q leader Raja Basharat released the recorded conversation on mobile phone before media during a Press conference held here at PML House. As per mobile conversation, Sheikh Rohail Asghar is harassing the independent candidate followed by exchange of hot words. Apart from this, another recorded conversation revealed an accomplice of Sheikh Rohail threatening the same person of dire consequences. The independent candidate Naeem Shahzad said that he had been receiving serious threats over the last some days. Addressing a Press conference, Raja Basharat said that PML-N leaders have learnt nothing from their past experiences and they had started character assassination campaign of opponents. Arshad Lodhi, Shahana Farooqi and other leaders of the party were also present. He said in the past, PML-N leadership issued tapes of Mehran Bank Scandal but failed to produce anything even after assuming power. Raja said Ahsan Iqbal released an 'engineered' tape before media, not only to vilify the PML-Q leadership but also the judiciary of the country. He said that this was only a move made for making political gains and pressurise the judiciary of the country. He said PML-Q would take all legal action against the PML-N leaders for levelling baseless charges against PML-Q leader. He said that the tape presented by PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal before media was carrying fake voice and was prepared by using modern devices to create a 'drama'. Raja Basharat was of the view that the tape is an 'engineered drama' and PML-N is expert in it. He alleged that the recent tape tactic was used to put pressure on judiciary and malign the leadership of his party. He said that Mian brothers have adopted a dual policy regarding the objections on their nomination papers. On one hand they claim that they would not defend themselves in the court but on the other hand they say that the civil society would defend their candidature. He said that PML-Q candidates are being harassed to withdraw their nominations for the by-polls. His party fully condemns such undemocratic attitude, he added. To a question about the withdrawal of papers by Akhlaq Ahmed Guddu against Nawaz Sharif, he said it was the result of pressure building tactics as the PML-Q candidate was also threatened of putting his name in the list of criminals wanted by police.
