Four killed in mishaps

KARACHI - A rickshaw driver was killed while another person was injured when a speedy truck hit the rickshaw near Valika Hospital in SITE Area. Police that unidentified rickshaw driver, aged 30-35 years, was killed in the incident while another person, Shahid, son of Mohammad Zeeshan, 45 was hurt in the mishap. Eyewitnesses said the rickshaw driver fell out of the three-wheeler when it was hit by another vehicle and was crushed to death by a speedy truck. Both the deceased and the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors said the injured was in stable condition. In another road mishap, a speedy vehicle hit an elderly man to death in Defence area. The deceased, 62-year old Shakeel Khan was a retired teacher who fell victim to reckless driving while he was crossing Sunset Boulevard in the limits of Defence Police Station. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) from where it was later moved to Edhi morgue. In another incident, a youth drowned in the filter plant water tank located in the limits of Steel Town police station. Kamran, 24, was a truck-driver. The body was shifted to 100-bed hospital of Pakistan Steel Mills. The deceased was said to be a resident of New Muzaffarabad Colony, Landhi. In yet another mishap, a builder died in a fall from the 3rd floor of an under-construction building, a mosque. The incident took place in Khudadad Colony within the limits of Ferozabad police station He was later identified as Chamni Gul. The deceased hailed from Bajaur Agency and his body was shifted to JPMC for legal formalities. Search on for body Rescuers kept searching for the body of an unidentified person who had drowned in the sea at Mai Kolachi near Railway Track. Rescuers said their volunteers were busy in the search but they could not succeed in their attempts.
