Youm-e-Takbeer today

LAHORE - The nation is all set to celebrate Youm-e-Takbeer today (Thursday) with fervour and enthusiasm. The day, May 28, is observed with great passion to remember the historic nuclear tests in 1998 in reply to Indian explosions that made Pakistan the seventh nuclear nation of the world and first Muslim state equipped with deadly arsenal. In this connection, PML-N has planned to organise special gatherings to highlight the importance of the event as the party has the distinction of making the decision during the second tenure of Mian Nawaz Sharif as prime minister, inspite of the pressure by the US and other western countries. Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust in collaboration with Tehrik-e-Pakistan Workers Trust will also organise a special sitting at Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Tehrik-e-Pakistan at 11 am. PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif will be the guest of honour. Pakistan National Forum is also organising a seminar to mark the day in the backdrop of present challenges being faced by Pakistan at a local hotel at 4:30 in the evening. Former foreign minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri will preside over the meeting while Education Minister Punjab Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, VC PU Dr Mujahid Kamran and many other distinguished personalities will also attend the event.
