OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Shahzad Malik and Fatima Ali have been elected as president and secretary respectively for Punjab Assemblys Press Gallery Committee. The election was held at assemblys cafeteria on Friday afternoon. Out of total 70 members of the Press Gallery Committee, 63 cast their votes for the office of president and 64 for the secretary. Shahzad Malik of Daily Awaaz got 32 votes as against his rival Imdad Soomro of KTN news channel, who obtained 31. Fatima Ali of Express TV secured 40 votes while her opponent Ruby Razzaq of Royal TV got 24. Senior journalist Zahid Riffat performed duties of election commissioner. Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal and Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan have congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Press Gallery Committee of Punjab Assembly.
