Strict action required

Islamabad Police have arrested a fugitive man who allegedly threw acid on his estranged wife on May 19 after she refused to withdraw a divorce plea she had submitted to a local court. Nagina Bibi, 30, who worked as a maid was intercepted by her husband Muhammad Irfan when she was going to her employers house in Shehza Town and was asked to withdraw the application. Upon refusal, Irfan took out a bottle of acid and sprinkled it over Nagina. She sustained acid burns in her head, face, neck, chest, abdomen and back. The authorities should give orders to the police to catch the perpetrator as he tried to ruin her life. The police should catch such culprits and punish them so that they set an example for the society. KHURRAM SALEEM, Islamabad, May 25.
