BAHAWALPUR - A man forcible married off his 10-year-old daughter to 45-year-old man in exchange marriage (Watta satta) here the other day.
As per detail, Mohammad Saddique, a resident of Khangaha Sharif, around 20-km away from here have nine children. Reportedly, his wife has eloped with someone around three months ago. However, Mohammad Saddique got his second marriage with the sister of Gulzaron in exchange watta satta. In (exchange) he married off his daughter 10-year-old Asiya.
Meanwhile, neighbour namely Akbar called the police and told the entire story. At which the police reached the spot and arrest father of the girl while the groom fled away by taking with him the bride forcibly, said the brother of Asiya. In the meanwhile Nikkah registrar also fled the scene.
Meanwhile, Khanqah Sharif Police SHO Khalid Wattoo told The Nation that he investigated the matter personally and found that the girl was not underage, adding that the girl had agreed to marry with Gulzar on own free will. The officer also contradicted that the girl was 10-year-old, saying that the age of the girl was around 15 to 16 year. He pointed out that after a thorough investigation, the father of the girl had been released.
6 injured: Six people were injured seriously when a bus and a van collided near Gojra Bypass, five kilometres from here.
The bus was bound for Faisalabad from Toba while the van was coming from the opposite side. As a result, all passengers of the van received minor injuries. However, six of them got severe wounds. Rescue 1122 team shifted them to a hospital. Three of them were stated to be in critical condition.
