LAHORE – Plains of the province including the City remained in the grip of severe heat wave on Sunday with experts predicting the prevailing weather conditions to persist during the ongoing week.

Mercury continued to rise gradually because of abundance of sunshine and lack of rains. As the prevailing conditions are likely to persist during the ongoing week, experts are expecting further increase in maximum and minimum temperatures.

On Sunday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 41.5 C and 26.5 C, respectively. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded 38 per cent which decreased to 16 per cent in the evening.

Harsh weather conditions forced Lahorites to avoid unnecessarily travel out of their houses, decreasing traffic on otherwise busy arteries.

Lahore canal as usual attracted a huge number of people including women and children. Not only youth, but also the elderly were seen beating the heat by taking a dip in the canal water. At certain places, even women were seen bathing in the canal water.
