LAHORE - Lahore District Coordination Officer Noor ul Amin Mengal paid a surprise visit to Johar Town Sunday Bazaar and directed the administration to improve the arrangements and provide maximum facilities to consumers.

The DCO checked the quality of fruits, vegetables and others food items in the bazaar, and expressed his displeasure over the unsatisfactory arrangements and poor conditions of cleanliness.

Mengal suspended Allama Iqbal Town TOR Uzair Anwer and directed him to report to his department concerned. He also directed to remove the stalls of used items from the bazaar and allocate proper parking area for citizens.

While inspecting different stalls, the DCO inquired from the consumers about the standard and prices of the items on which some of the consumers complained to him about the quality of fruits and vegetables. On this, the DCO directed the officers to pay special attention to the quality of fruits and vegetables.

He said that the prices of food items in the Sunday bazaar should not be higher than the open market. Mengal also said that the sale of substandard food items would not be allowed in the Sunday bazaar in the name of cheap things.

Meanwhile, Mengal has taken serious notice of the presence of some selling points of sadqa meat in Lahore. The DCO directed all TMOs and TORs to take action against the selling points of sadqa meat and said that they would be held responsible if any sadqa meat seller was found selling meat anywhere in their respective areas.

The Lahore DCO has directed all TMOs and TORs to submit reports about action taken by them regarding selling points of sadqa meat on daily basis to his office. He further said that sale points of sadqa meat would not be tolerated in the city and that strict action would be taken against the concerned officers of the areas.

Also, on the directions of the DCO, four FIRs have been registered in different police stations on the violation of ban on one dish and timings at wedding ceremonies. Monitoring teams of various towns took action in different areas and one case was registered in the jurisdiction of Samanabad town, two FIRs were lodged in the area of Data Gunj Buksh town and one FIR was registered in the area of Shalimar town.

The Lahore DCO directed concerned authorities to monitor the wedding ceremonies on regular basis and submit the report to his office. He also directed to take action according to the law against the violators.
