FAISALABAD - The government should avail itself of the expertise and professional acumen of cost and management accountants in reforming the national economy, said Muhammad Iqbal Ghauri, the director finance at the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company.

He was addressing a function on 61st management accountants’ day in Peoples Colony. After performing the flag-hoisting in local branch office, he said that fraternity of the management accountants has its presence across the globe.

“Management accountants play an important role in the development of economy,” he said and added that currently the members of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan are serving in more than 50 cities within the country and 43 abroad.

He said that inception of this profession on May 23, 1951 was a dream which became reality when the era of industrialisation usher forcing businesses to become internationally effective and efficient for its survival. He said that management accountants are also voluntarily submitting budget proposals to the government and hope that govt would avail their services to steer the economy out of crisis.

He also paid tribute to the present management of ICMAP that was making concerted efforts to elevate the status of management accountants by linking them with the international community. He said that serious efforts are being made to amend the present Act.
