Militants blow up power transmission line in Bajaur area



BAJAUR AGENCY - Unidentified miscreants blew up a high power transmission line in Yousufabad area of Bajaur Agency on the night between Saturday and Sunday as a result electricity remained completely suspended to the whole region.
Officials of the local administration said that a group of armed persons planted explosives along the tower of 66,000-KV high power transmission line near the Yousufabad area, 4-km from Khar. The explosives went off with a big bang and completely destroyed the tower of transmission line.
Locals said that they were sleeping and awaked by the bomb blast that was heard within six-km of the area. They said that electricity in the whole agency got instantly suspended after the blast. “Soon after the blast, heavy firing was heard from the levies post but the miscreants had escaped safely,” Naik Amal Khan, a local told this scribe.
The officials said a technical team of Tesco had been called from Peshawar but it did not start work yet.
The local people faced huge problems as the suspension of electricity in the agency, most parts of the areas were facing lack of water. So far no group has claimed responsibility for the destruction of transmission line, however locals believe that militants were behind the attack.
Meanwhile, the local administration has launched a search operation in Yousufabad and its surrounding areas and several persons have been arrested. “So for the administration has arrested 25 suspected persons in the search.” The detained persons included Haseeb Khan, a wanted man.
