LAHORE – The Mutahida Kissan Mehaz (MKM) has announced to besiege the Parliament if the govt did not consider genuine demands of growers in the upcoming budget.

Addressing a press conference at a local hotel on Sunday, MKM Chief Ayub Khan Meo said that he was in contact with other farmers’ organisation to lodge a strong protest if the upcoming budget was not grower-friendly.

Meo said that the rulers could take the country out of economic crisis by strengthening agriculture sector. He urged the government to provide necessary facilities including cheap electricity, provision of agri equipment and quality seeds to the farmers at affordable price and allocate Rs500 billion for construction of new dams.

Meo said that if these demands were not accepted, the growers would have no option except to start long march and besiege the Parliament. He said India had resorted to water aggression due to wrong policies of the rulers.

He said the world community was hell bent upon destroying agriculture which was the backbone of Pakistan’s economy.

The rulers should open eyes and focus on agriculture to put Pakistan on the path of economic self-reliance and progress, he held.
