ISLAMABAD - Federal Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri yesterday exchanged hot words over a Sui project during Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) meeting yesterday.

Chief Minister Zehri walked out of the meeting after difference of opinion with the federal minister turned into an intense dissent.

He said it was no use to sit in the meeting when Balochistan projects were not being discussed and he led his cabinet colleagues to stage a walkout. He said the matter would now being raised with the prime minister.

On his part, Ahsan Iqbal said that he has been allocating funds for the Sui project for the last three years. However, Iqbal, without wasting any time, went straight to the Balochistan House and addressed chief minister’s reservations. Reportedly, Zehri was of the opinion that Balochistan is subjected to partiality when it comes to distribution of funds among provinces.

Zehri later denied any clash with the federation while talking to the media. He however complained that funds for Balochistan were not released on time.

The minister argued CM was misinformed by his aides as federation had issued funds for Sui project around three years ago. Balochistan government does not take PC-1 into consideration, he complained.

Iqbal asserted government would resolve all issues of provinces. He also talked about CPEC saying it was vital for country and the region.

The KP government also protested for excluding its projects from PSDP and threatened boycott.

KP Finance Minister Muzafar Hussain told media 55 projects were sent but not a single scheme was included in PSDP.

“Even the projects ordered by the prime minister for inclusion in PSDP were not accommodated,” he complained. “If our reservations were not removed, we will also boycott like Balochistan,” he warned. The sitting remained suspended for almost three hours.
