rawalpindi - The district government is taking concrete steps for eradication of poliovirus from the city and for the purpose a total of 127 polio workers have been administering polio drops to children below five years of age. Similarly, 40,000 anti-polio teams are operating in the province to control the poliovirus. The teams are visiting door to door and creating awareness about the lethal virus among the people.

These views were expressed by officials of UNICEF and Punjab Information Department during a media briefing here yesterday. The officials included Communication Expert Baan Khalid Zeeshan Ali, Bushra Ajmal and Wasif Mehmood.

The officials said that police teams were going door to door to give polio drops to children. They said that the purpose of the anti-polio drive was to finish the deadliest virus from Pakistan completely.

They informed that the people were showing keen interest in administering polio drops to their children. They said that media could play a vital role to remove misconceptions about polio.
