KASUR-The objective behind holding open courts is the provision of speedy justice to the public and motivating the policemen to their duty of protecting the life, honour and properties of the common man.

Kasur DPO Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi stated while addressing citizens at an open court held at the Khuddian Police station here the other day.

Mr Rizvi said that the police nicked many criminals involved in heinous crimes in the district with the cooperation of public, adding that the rest of criminals and gangsters would be busted soon.

On the occasion, he listened to the citizens’ complaints and directed the official concerned to resolve their problems. He also suspended and charge sheeted Dhala Kalan Police Check-Post In-charge Inspector Rana Muhammad Mukhtar on public complaints.

The DPO also inquired the citizens about performance of the district police and sought their suggestions to improve performance of the cops. He informed that at least 20 committees comprising notables of the district are being constituted to resolve disputes among the citizens at local level. He said that the Citizen Police Liaison Committees are also being re-activated to bridge the gap between the police and public. Later, the DPO inspected the Khuddian Police station and issued a show cause notice to an officer for poor performance.

MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH: A local court sentenced a man to death and fined him Rs200,000 for killing two boys during jubilation fire at a wedding in Gatti Klanjar Village.

The District and Sessions court pronounced the verdict on the case registered in 2015. According to the prosecution, Bashir opened fire in jubilation at a wedding held in Gatti Klanjar Village. As a result two boys - Waseem Akram and Shamshad - were killed. After listening to the argument, testifying witnesses and evaluating evidence, the district and sessions court sentenced the accused to death and fined him Rs200,000 which would be paid to the heirs of the deceased boys.
