LAYYAH -Private school teachers protested against school owners against non-payment of salaries due to closure of schools for summer vacation following the Punjab government directives.

Teachers Rafee, Usman Ghani, Jameel Ahmad, Iqrar Hussain, Abdullahd and others said that their home expenses are baised on their pay and also EID will be celebrated in July. If salaries not meet, they will be unable to make both ends meet, they added.

Despite government directives, the private educational institutions remained opened in Layyah district.

Executive District Officer (Education) Mian Muhammad Mansha paid surprise visit to opened private schools and issued showcase notices to the owners of these schools.

The owners of private schools said that they are yet to collect fee of June in first week. They denied to pay salaries to the teachers due to no-collection of fee. Private Schools Association leader Alsam said, “We closed our schools after the Punjab government decision that’s why we are not in a position to pay salaries of teachers.” They demanded that Punjab Government should allow summer camps during holidays. EDO Mansha said that strict action against private schools will be taken on opening schools during holidays and not paying salaries to their teachers.
