30 more FC platoons for KP approved

PESHAWAR - To deal with any untoward incident during Muharram, the federal government has approved services of 30 extra platoons of Frontier Constabulary (FC) for security in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa for the month. Along with these 30 platoons of FC, Pakistan Army has also been put on standby for provision of security as and when needed. Earlier it was decided to hand over 12 highly sensitive districts of KP including Kohat, Hangu, DI Khan and some areas of capital Peshawar. Pakistan Army force will be deployed for 9th and 10th of Muharram at most sensitive areas of the city as well as other districts specially security of the Imambargahs. Meanwhile the government has also banned sale of 300 books and magazines of different sects for 40 days starting from Muharram 1. The security agencies had warned the government that these books, magazines and periodicals written by religious scholars of different sects could trigger sectarian hatred and violence during Muharram due to which these had been banned. The department of internal affairs, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa government has issued the lists of these publications to concerned officials including SHOs and DPOs, directing for immediate implementation.
