Request for barbed wires sent to Army

LAHORE City police have forwarded a formal request to the Pakistan Army to provide them barbed wires in abundance so that the law enforcement agency would be able to ensure security for processions and Majalis during the holy month of Moharram, top police officials revealed here on Saturday. Police sources further said that the police are facing acute shortage of barbed wires and barriers, which is an integral item to secure a specific area. The police needed the barbed wires in abundance in order to block the movement of outsiders towards the high security zone. It is important to mention here that DIG (Operations) Rao Sardar informed a high-level meeting held here at police Headquarters Qila Gujjar Singh the other to review security arrangements for Moharram that the police are facing acute shortage of necessary security articles. He said that barbed wires should available with the police in abundance, as it is the integral equipment to secure a specified area for security reasons. The police have forward a formal request to Pakistan Army for supply of barbed wires in abundance in order to ensure foolproof security during Moharram. The policemen have also been directed to set up parking lots at a considerable distance from the place of Majalis in order to avoid any untoward happening. The police would also request the management of Moharram processions and Majalis to arrange barriers at their own. Ashraf Javed
