LAHORE - Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif took suo moto notice about 60-year-old lady, Ghulam Ayesha, who allegedly died due to torture in police custody but police claimed she died of cardiac arrest. The chief justice observed, 'Endless atrocities of the police have become order of the day, that could not be ignored. He directed the district police officer Bahawalnagar and the SHO concerned to appear on Nov 30 along with record of the case. He also directed the Punjab advocate general to assistance on the matter on the next date of hearing. The CJ took suo moto notice on a news item which stated that due to alleged torture on Ghulam Ayesha in police station Marot, Bahawanagar, she lost her life. while on the other hand the police claimed the lady died due to heart attack.
