Court hands over girl to husband

LAHORE - District and Sessions Judge Sohail Nasir on Saturday permitted one Rabia Ajmal, second-year student of LLB, to go with her husband, the father of four children, after the respondent party Abdul Hameed and others produced Rabia before the court on a notice served to the party. Ajmal Hussain, son of Anwer Hussian, had filed a habeas corpus petition in the court alleging that his in-laws Abdul Hameed and others had illegally detained his wife Rabia Ajmal, as they both had contracted marriage (love marriage) on October 14, 2010, and later Rabias father Abdul Hameed and others were forcing her to take divorce from me. He contacted that SHO and ASI of Sabzazar police station also threatened him of dire consequences. He prayed to the court that her wife Rabia Ajmal should be recovered from the respondents and be handed over to him as per fundamental law of liberty. On petitioners plea, the court issued a notice to the respondent party, which on Saturday produced Rabia before the court. Later, the court after hearing the consent of Rabia permitted her to go with her husband Ajmal Hussain.
