Court annoyed at illmannered ACE woman official




LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Tuesday reprimanded a woman officer of Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) for not maintaining decorum of the court.
An assistant director of the department, Saima Liaqat, appeared in contempt of court petition, complaining non-registration of a case against a police inspector despite the judicial orders.
As the proceedings started, Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi noticed a casual appearance by the woman officer as she placed her handbag and cell phone on the rostrum before responding to the judge’s query.
The officer felt embarrassment when Justice Naqvi asked her whether she came to shopping centre. Following which the judge summoned ACE director general on short notice.
DG Abid Akram appeared in the court and tender an apology over his subordinate’s behavior.
He told the court that a case had been registered against Inspector Nasir Mahmood of Narowal. It was alleged that the inspector had embezzled Rs500, 000 from a recovered booty. The statement of DG was recorded and disposed off the contempt petition.
