KARACHI – Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Misbhauddin Fareed on Tuesday directed the revenue department to take action against defaulters of the water board. He said this while chairing a meeting at the KW&SB head office which was attended by DMD Revenue Waqar Hashmi and other revenue officers.The senior officials of the revenue department informed the meeting that government institutions and large scale builders are also not cooperating with the department. The revenue officials presented a list in the meeting of such builders. They informed that Maimar Builders is defaulter of more than Rs170 million. According to the list Maimar Housing Services Super Highway KDA Scheme is defaulter of more than Rs17.6 million, Maimaar Housing Services Syed Road is a defaulter of more than Rs62 million Maimaar Housing Services Dia Bhatti Amranapu Gadap is a defaulter of more than Rs4.5 million, Gulistan-e-Maimaar Housing Services is a defaulter of more than Rs.4.6 million, Gulshan-e-Maimaar Housing Services K.D.A is a defaulter of more than Rs4.5 million, Gulshan-e-Maimaar Scheme is a defaulter of more than Rs3.3 million, Saima Urban House is defaulter of more than Rs1.5 million, Square 1 tower is defaulter of more than Rs3.7 million, Saima Mall and Residency is a defaulter of more than Rs2.7 million and R-1 Enterprises is a defaulter of 0.2 million.Whereas, Saima Royal Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saima Pari Residency Northnazimabad, Saima Residency Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Saima Pari Mall Nazimabad have not been registered with KW&SB yet however, the provision of water and connection is ongoing. KW&SB MD had directed to issue final notices to the defaulters and speedup the recovery process. He said that KW&SB would not accept any kind of pressure in this regard so that the revenue situation is improved. He said that Revenue Department was the backbone of the institution and for KW&SB, which was a public service institution it was vital to improve the revenue situation. He said that consumers must cooperate with KW&SB since the KW&SB bills do not even cover the service charges yet we are serving the citizens day and night. He directed the revenue officers to ensure the provision of bills on time and disconnect the lines to the defaulters who have not paid the dues for a long time. He directed the DMD Revenue to formulate a strategy for action against defaulters in order to improve the revenue situation and bring the institution out of the financial crises.
