LAHORE - Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies in collaboration with Political Science department organised a one day seminar on “Realising Options, Outlets and Opportunities for Post 2014 Afghanistan”, at seminar hall of CSAS. Director CSAS & Chairperson Department of Political Science Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid gave a welcome address while the key note speaker was Dr Najam Abbas Senior Fellow at East-West Institute Belgium on Central and South Asian affairs.

Dr Najam said that war in Afghanistan had manifested new realities leading to new opportunities. He said that US wanted the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan but also wanted to restrain the influence of China, Russia and Iran. Later, Dr Umbreen Javed presented souvenirs to the guests.

PU issues admission schedule: PU Examinations Department had issued the schedule for submission of admission forms and fee for M.Ed (Visual Impairment), 2nd annual examination 2011 (session 2010-2011) and annual examination 2012 (session 2011-2012). The last date for submission of admission forms with single fee is 12-12-2012, while forms can be submitted with double fee till 17-12-2012. The examination will commence with effect from 9th January, 2013.

Acting VC condoles death of deputy controller’s wife: PU Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Liaqat Ali has expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Deputy Controller Examination Degree Cell Manzoor Ahmad’s Wife.

PU acting VC Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Registrar Prof Khan Rass Masood, Additional Controller Ahmed Ali Chatha senior administrative officers and a large number of varsity employees participated in the funeral prayer.

Extension 24/7 Service:  The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) is formally launching “UAVS 24/7 Extension Service” today (Wednesday) to facilitate livestock, poultry, fisheries and dairy farmers on their doorsteps.

The UVAS 24/7 extension service is aimed to provide emergency and routine veterinary patient care for all species of large and small animals. This has been done to strive to understand animal disease processes and to be a leader in the area of animal health and productivity for the betterment of the farming community.

In charge 24/7 extension service Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani said that the service being launched under the leadership of the UVAS VC.
