FAISALABAD - A state of the art centre for Biochemistry and Bio-Technology Chair will be established at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) to promote coordinated and harmonized scientific approaches among researchers.
Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad remarked while addressing the inaugural session of a 5-day workshop on “Imparting Practical Training in Molecular and Biochemical Techniques” organised by Chemistry and Bio-Chemistry Department in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) at new Senate Hall on Tuesday.
He said that transformation was underway to replace traditional teaching methods with modern techniques to equip teachers and the youth with latest innovative technologies being practiced in world’s top educational institutions. The VC emphasized on collaborative efforts of scientific community in the field of bio-technology and said that it was the only way to reap the crop of scientific innovations in befitting manners.
He also reiterated his commitment to introduce online international learning mechanism as part of curriculum with the combination of video conferencing.
Dean Faculty of Sciences Dr Munir Ahmad Sheikh said that in this era of rapid development the science and technology was sapping the old believes since many old theories were being replaced with sophisticated innovations.
He said that the major drawback of our scientific system was the non availability of pertinent equipment and if available, personnel with proper training were not available and due to this constraint even the modern machines in the laboratories were laid unused.
Dr Amir Jameel said that in order to cope with the bases of advancements in the field of science and technology, refresher courses and training workshops were mandatory for the teachers and newly engaged scientists. He added that UAF had become best resource centre for conducting HEC workshops.
