MIRPUR (AJK)

Strongly condemning the reported Indian move for construction of a wall along the line of control and the working boundary in the Indian-held Jammu & Kashmir, AJK minister for Finance, Hydel Power, Planning & Development Ch Latif Akber warned India to refrain from exercising any such nefarious and unwarranted activity in the internationally-acknowledged disputed Himalayan state.

Talking to this scribe here on Wednesday, he observed that it was another abortive Indian attempt towards the division of the globally-recognised disputed status of the Jammu & Kashmir state similar to such nefarious moves in the past, which, he declared would be strongly resisted and frustrated by the people of the state dwelling on both sides of the LoC.

The AJK minister continued that the UN resolution unequivocally spoke for the free movement of people of Jammu & Kashmir on either sides of the LoC. "Therefore, there was no sanctity of the LoC for the people of the Jammy & Kashmir state as per the UN resolutions", he pointed out.

Latif Akber demanded the Pakistani government to take stock of the reported Indian plan about construction of the wall along the LoC and Working Boundary and take up the issue at appropriate level and forum to refrain India from any practical step in this direction.

The minister declared that the people of Jammu & Kashmir would strongly resist and thwart the Indian plan by raising the unwarranted move at each relevant forum both at home and abroad.

Expressing his strong reaction over the reported Indian plan about construction of the Barlin-like wall on the LoC, Jammu & Kashmir Liberation League President Justice (r) Abdul Majeed Mallick termed the reported Indian declaration about the construction of wall on the LoC as uncalled for, unwarranted, unjustified and blatant violation of the international norms and commitments vis-à-vis future of the Jammu & Kashmir linked with the legitimate global commitment about grant of the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu & Kashmir state.

Justice (r) Mallick, also former AJK High Court CJ, warned New Delhi to refrain from exercising any such move detrimental to the centuries-old entity of the internationally-acknowledged disputed Himalayan State of Jammu & Kashmir.

He warned that since people of Jammu & Kashmir did not believe in the division of the disputed Stated of Jammu & Kashmir, any Indian move to construct the Berlin-like wall on the LoC would be strongly resisted and thwarted with full vigour by the people of Jammu & Kashmir dwelling at on both sides of the LoC.

He recalled that since Jammu & Kashmir state was the disputed territory and according to the United Nations resolutions, the people of the state will yet have to decide about their fate, he pointed out.

The JKLL chief suggested to the Indian government to sincerely move for early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue through composite tri-partite dialogue with Pakistan and the people of Jammu & Kashmir as being demanded by the people of the state as well being the major party to the Kashmir conflict for the sake of everlasting and durable peace in the region.
