ISLAMABAD : Masroor A. Junejo, Pakistan Ambassador-designate to Denmark, has asked the businessmen to focus on Scandinavian countries for enhancing trade. During his visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) on Wednesday, he said Scandinavian countries including Denmark, Norway and Sweden are growing markets which offer great potential for Pakistani products, especially textiles and Pakistani businessmen should accelerate efforts to explore more business opportunities in these markets. He said ICCI should take a business delegation to Scandinavian countries to find new areas of mutual cooperation.

He said grant of GSP Plus to Pakistan by European Union would open up plenty of new avenues for Pakistan to enhance its exports and our exporters should ensure quality products to capture a better share in huge EU market.

Masroor Junejo said he would be based in Denmark, but would also look after three Baltic States viz. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and would try to explore more business opportunities in these countries for Pakistan.

“I would be representing Pakistani business community in Denmark & Baltic States and try to extend them all possible cooperation for promoting business relations with these countries”, he added.

Speaking at the occasion, Shaban Khalid, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said close working relationship between trade bodies and Pakistan embassies in foreign countries is very important to fully tap all potential but untapped markets for Pakistani products.

He said “we need to make joint efforts for improving image of Pakistan in foreign countries, which will greatly help in promoting trade and exports.” He said that Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry is planning to take a delegation to Germany and Scandinavian countries in March or April 2014 and hoped that the Pakistan Ambassador-designate to Denmark would facilitate ICCI delegation in organizing B2B meetings with their Danish counterparts.
