ISLAMABAD - Leader of Opposition in National Assembly (NA) Syed Khursheed Shah has welcomed the appointments of new Army Chief Raheel Sharif and Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Rashid Mehmood.

Congratulating both the generals for their appointments, Khursheed Shah, in a statement issued here on Wednesday, said that they would work with devotion for protection of geographical borders of the country as well as tackling other challenges faced by the country.

He further expressed confidence that they will work with zeal for the protection of geographical borders of the country as well as tackling other challenges faced by the country.

Moreover, talking to the newsmen he hoped that new Army Chief Raheel Sarif will perform his responsibilities appropriately. Incumbent government should make strategy for different issues with him.

He further said that Former Army Chief Gen.Ashfaq Pervez Kiani played a positive role for strengthening democracy. “I had advised the Premier not to ignore the aspect of seniority on the process of choosing a new chief of the armed forces...PM would have decided this after due deliberation,” he added.

To a question about suspension of Nato supply, Shah said that the stoppage of NATO supply by the PTI is tantamount to a challenge to the federation. He also feared that the suspension in this way could produce dangerous results.
