LAHORE - PML-Q president Ch Shujaat Hussain yesterday paid a visit to the residence of late PPP leader Jahangir Badar and condoled the death with his family.

Shujaat said they enjoyed closed friendship. “Badar was my companion during a tour to Afghanistan. We had friendly relations. He had great knowledge of Sufism. During the tour, he explained the poetry of Bulleh Shah to me,” the former prime minister told the media in Ali Town.

He called Badar a seasoned politician and asset of the country.

Responding to a question on Panama Leaks issue, Shujaat Hussain said all eyes were set on the Supreme Court verdict which must be accepted by all parties. He predicted the Qatari prince will not come to Pakistan as he would have to stand in witness box “which is not in the nature of princes”.

To another question, he termed Bilawal Bhutto Zardari an alternate of late Benazir Bhutto.

About the appointment of new army chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa who belongs to his caste (Jatt), Ch Shujaat said caste system did not exist in the army and it should not be given priority in any matter as we were all Pakistani.

“The caste of Army Chief is Pakistan and his community is Armed Forces of Pakistan.”
