LAYYAH/SIALKOT/ TOBA TEK SINGH/AHMEDPUR EAST/HAFIZABAD-In support of Khatm-e-Nubuwwat sit-in and against police crackdown on Faizabad protesters, a number of activists of religious parties continued their protest for the third day but later dispersed after their leaders ended the sit-in in Faizabad on Monday.
Complete shutdown was observed in Layyah and other district of Punjab province in support of Faizabad protesters. Tahreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah and other religious parties’ sit on Fowara Chowk caused traffic blockade. The protesters chanted slogans against the government and demanded resignation of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanauallah as well.
At Dhori Adda, the traders held a rally in favour of Faizabad protesters on Multan Road. A number of traders, citizens, religious parties workers and social, political workers participated in the rally. On the Call of Anjuman Tajran Layyah and Dhori Adda, shops remained closed the whole day. Talking to The Nation, President of Anjuman Tajran Malik Muzaffar said that all society members have the same demand the Khatme Nubuwwat issue. In Sialkot, hundreds of activists of different religious parties continued their sit-ins in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur and surrounding areas. They kept the traffic blocked on various main and link roads.
Meanwhile, the security was beefed up in and around the residence of Khawaja Asif, the Sialkot based federal minister for foreign affairs, in Cantt arae. The local police officials said that the security had been beefed up to avert any untoward incident here
Pasrur police registered a case against a scores of the unknown people for attacking the residence of Zahid Hamid, former federal law minister, three days ago. Police registered the case on the report of a local trader Sheikh Irfan Ali against the mob Under Sections 148, 149, 337 L-2, 427 and 452 PPC, with no arrest.
The protesters had attacked the native house of Zahid Hamid in Pasrur City. According to the local police, hundreds of people, belonging to the local religious parties, were protested against police action against the protesting people in Rawalpindi.
The Jamaat Ahle Sunnat and Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah jointly took out a procession as a mark of protest against operation in Islamabad.
It started from Madressa Faizul Islam and culminated at Chowk Munir Shaheed peacefully. It was led by Maulana Abdul Aziz Faizi and Maulana Ashiq Farid Meharvi. Protestors chanted slogans against PML-N government and in favour of Army Chief General qamar Javed Bajwa.
Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Tehsil President Maulana Abdul Aziz Faizi, Tehreek Labaik Amir Maulana Ashiq Farid Meharvi, former City Nazim Malik l Aleem, PML-Q leader Syed Salahuddin Ahmed Jeelani, Maulana Arshad Rizvi and Tariq Saeedi addressed the protesters at Chowk Munir Shaheed.
They expressed their solidarity with the TLYR. They severely criticised PML-N government for hatching conspiracy against Khatme Nubuwwat. They thanked Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa positive role and his timely intervention.
As a result of his advice, the operation was suspended in Islamabad and transmission of TV channels was restored, they said. The speakers said that Khatme Nubuwwat is foundation of faith.
As a result of protest and sit-in in Toba Tek Singh, traffic remained blocked on Jhang Road till evening when the sit in ended in Islamabad’s.
In Hafizabad, a case Under Section 302, 324, 148, 148 PPC was registered against DSP Nasir Nawaz, three SHOs and three constables on the charge of allegedly firing on the mob of Thathi Behlolpur who had blocked the Sargodha road resulting in the death of Abu Sufyan and injuries to four others on the orders of DPO Hafizabad.
The TLYR activists protested against the barbaric attitude of the police force in Faizabad and blocked the Lahore-Sargodha Road. As the participants had refused to unblock the road, the police opened fire which resulted in the murder of Abu Sufyan while four others Jahangir, Zahoor Ahmad, Sarfraz Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmad were seriously injured.
Nimaz-i-Janaza of Abu Safyan was offered in Hafizabad in which hundreds of citizens participated. Later, his body was taken to his native village where Nimaz-i-Janaza was also offered and laid to rest in Thathi Behlolpur in the presence of hundreds of mourners. The activists of TLYR demanded immediate arrest of the DSP, three SHOs and all the constables involved in the incident.
On the other hand, all the city roads and markets in Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian, Sukheke Mandi, Jalalpur and Kaleke Mandi presented deserted look for the second day due to complete strike by the traders and even petty shopkeepers.
The lawyers of Hafizabad and Pindi Bhattian also observed complete strike on the call of Punjab Bar Council. However, vehicular traffic of all the inter-city routes and motorway resumed Monday afternoon.

AJK protesters disperse in a big rally

MIRPUR (AJK) - Following the central leaders anouncement regarding end to the 22 days sit-in at Faizabad, Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasoolallah and other religious groups called off their sit-ins in various parts of AJK including Mirpur district on Monday.
Life returned to normality in AJK on Monday soon after the participants of the protest sit-ins at Mangla bridge on Dina-Mirpur Highway peacefully dispersed in the light of the decision made by their central leaders about ending the 22-day-long sit-in. They had staged the protest against the controversial amendment in the oath of Finality of Prophethood (PBUH) which was later withdrawn by the government on the floor of the parliament.
As reported earlier, Mirpur district was dislinked with rest of the world since last 72 hours after hundreds of people belonging to the Islamic religious groups including Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah and Sunni Tehreek staged sit-ins at the middle of Mangla bridge to register resentment against the use of force against the participant protesters of Faizabad interchange sit-in on Saturday.
The participants of the sit-in at Mangla bridge peacefully dispersed as soon as their leaders at the mega protest congregation at Faizabad announced to call off the sit-in besides advising their followers to do the same in rest parts of the country including AJK.
Police remained alert to maintain peace and order during whole of the exercise and the overall situation remained peaceful the whole day. The people gathered at the central locations in various other AJK cities including Kotli, Bhimbher, Poonch and other places also peacefully dispersed.
