National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri has said that strengthening the democratic institutions was imperative to overcome the challenges that the country was facing and the problems that the masses were facing in their daily lives.
In a meeting with the Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, who called on him at Parliament House on Wednesday, both the leaders expressed their confidence in the policies of the incumbent government and agreed to promote close contacts between the legislatures of the country.
The Punjab assembly speaker discussed issues of mutual interest and expressed condolences with the NA speaker over the death of his mother. Qasim Khan Suri termed the election of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as Punjab assembly speaker as a good omen and said that he (Pervaiz Elahi) was a veteran political leader under his sagacious leadership the Punjab Assembly would play its constitutional role more effectively than the past Assemblies.
He assured all-out cooperation of National Assembly Secretariat and Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in capacity building of staff members of Punjab Assembly.
