Bahawalpur - A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Bahawalpur division Capt (retd) Muhammad Zafar Iqbal regarding the supply of urea fertilizer in sufficient quantity at fixed rates fixed by the government. Additional Commissioner Coordination Faisal Ata Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Amir Nazir Kachchi, Assistant Commissioner General Liaquat Ali Gilani, Director Agriculture Jamshed Khalid Sindhu, Deputy Director Agriculture Mohammad Shafiq, Manager FFC Mohammad Khalid, Manager Fatima Fertilizer Mohammad Yaseen, Manager Engro Yuria Faryaz were present. Capt (retd) Muhammad Zafar Iqbal directed that all measures should be taken to provide sack of urea fertilizer at the cost of Rs1,768. He further said that wheat crop is an important component of food security and supply of urea fertilizer for its cultivation would be ensured. Commissioner Bahawalpur warned that dealers involved in stockpiling and wholesale of agricultural fertilizers would be dealt with iron fist. He directed the administrative officers to carry out strict monitoring to curb smuggling of urea fertilizers. Post the price list in a prominent place. Commissioner Bahawalpur division said that the administrative officers should compile a complete record of transportation of urea fertilizer from factories to dealers and discourage the role of middle man in providing all possible urea fertilizer to the farmer at controlled rate.
