KARACHI - Pakistan People's Party Sindh chapter has proposed joint course of action devised by the coalition partners to deweaponise Karachi. Addressing a press conference along with PPP Karachi Division President Faisal Abidi held at his residence PPP Sindh secretary-general Nafees Siddiqui disclosed that PPP-led coalition government wants to make a strategy with consultations of all its coalition partners in Sindh - MQM and ANP - to de-weaponise the City. "MQM has also complained that huge cache of illegal weapons present in the City and the government has took this issue seriously and wants that a joint strategy of coalition partners should be evolved to free the City from weapons," Siddqui added. Abidi said that PPP was victim of terrorism and their late chairperson Benazir Bhutto had always preached the lesson of brotherhood and peace. He said that PPP had suspended membership of dozen of Party workers who violated Party discipline and involved in displaying weapons in their respective areas. Siddiqui said that it was not his personal suggestion rather the Party's policy statement to de-weaponise the City to develop conducive atmosphere for the business community and to get rid from the prevailing violence in the City. Siddiqui and Abidi had announced PPP business forum to resolve the issues faced by the business community. Siddiqui is head of the forum, Abdul Razzaq Agar, chief executive of Agar Textile (Private) Limited, has been nominated as president of PPP business forum and Mohammad Younis Soomro, an industrialist, has been nominated as general secretary of the forum . Abidi, who also belonged from electronic trade industry, said that PPP had set up 15 members business forum in which all members were taken from all the sectors of industries to address their issues. PPP Karachi Division Information Secretary and large numbers of industrialists were also present on the occasion.
