ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday was left with no option but to reschedule the meeting after cabinet members missed the deadline given to complete performance reports of their departments.
The meeting scheduled for October 28 (today) would now take place on October 31. The PM had asked all ministers, state ministers and advisers to present performance reports of their ministries, divisions and relevant institutions in cabinet meeting on October 28.
On Monday, the PM not only rescheduled meeting but also made it binding for all the members of cabinet to ensure that they would present their performance reports one by one.
The PM issued the instructions that all members of cabinet would also brief the meeting about all those steps which they took for the betterment of common people. The special cabinet meeting would continue till completion of performance evaluation of all ministries in their offices.
According to sources in the cabinet division, special cabinet meeting will be important because the PM will consult cabinet and key PML-N members regarding reshuffling in the key decision making body.
Senior member and PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq and Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra will be assisting the PM in reviewing ministers’ performance and cabinet members keeping in view the party’s manifesto.
Sources mentioned that the prime minister had rescheduled the meeting on request of different ministers because they were busy on official foreign trips and could not get time to compile performance reports.
The prime minister would reshuffle the portfolios of different ministers on the basis of their performance, besides taking decision to add new members in the cabinet. The federal cabinet consists of 20 ministers, 10 state ministers, 2 special advisers to PM and 5 advisers to PM.
