ISLAMABAD- President Mamnoon Hussain has accorded approval to appointment of Supreme Court (SC) senior most judge Justice Jawwad S Khawaja as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) during the period of foreign visit by CJP Nasir ul Mulk.

As per presidential spokesman, CJP Nasir ul Mulk along with a delegation  is proceeding on  official visit of  South Korea from October 31 to November 10 and Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, senior most judge of SC will serve as acting CJP during this period. President Mamnoon Hussain has approved this appointment under the advice of Prime Minister.

President also approved extension of one year in the service period of 6 additional judges of Lahore High Court. These judges include Justice Mehmood Ahmad Bhatti, Justice Arshid Mehmood Tabassam, Justice Muhammad Tariq Abbassi, Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Masood Jahangir, Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Justice M Sohail Iqbal Bhatti.
