KHYBER AGENCY - Tribesmen of Landi Kotal on Monday staged a rally demanding restoration of peace in the Khyber Agency.

Hundreds of local tribal, including students, tribal elders, local political workers and members of civil society were among the participants. The rally was leading by MNA from NA-45 Malik Nadeem. The protestors were carrying banners inscribed with slogans like, “we need pen not gun” etc. The protestors marched from Agency Headquarter Hospital Landi Kotal to the Landi Kotal Press Club. The rally turned into a public gathering at Bacha Khan Chowk, where speakers addressed the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Malik Nadeem said that peace plays an important role in development of any territory and we want peace for the better future of our next generation. “Instead of gun the tribal need pen which is inevitable for durable peace,” he observed. “The peace-loving tribesmen will leave no stone unturned to work and assist security agencies for establishing government writ in the area,” he assured. He asked all local political forces to join them for the progress and restoration of peace in Landi Kotal. The rally was also addressed by Nisar Afridi, Alaf Gul Shinwari while famous poet Sahail Afridi recited poems highlighting peace. At the end the rally dispersed peacefully.
