ISLAMABAD- Supreme Court (SC) has admitted for regular hearing a petition challenging legal and constitutional status of Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The petition was filed by the petitioner Shahid Orakzai and registrar office had raised objection over it. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar of SC heard in his chamber an appeal plea filed against registrar office objections. He admitted the petition for regular hearing.

Shahid Orakzai took the plea the formation of IHC under 19th amendment of the constitution is illegal and unconstitutional and all the provisions in this connection run counter to the constitution. IHC cannot be made part of constitution with these words therefore its formation be declared unconstitutional, he prayed. The petitioner had filed this petition in 2011 which has been heard after 3 years.
