KARACHI - Seven people were shot dead in various violent incidents here on Monday.

The bodies of three men were found from the bushes at Abdullah Goth within the jurisdictions of Mochko police station.

Police shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsies. It said identical chits were found from the possession of two victims who are identified as Abdul Rehman Marri, 55 and Najeedullah Mehsud, 32. One victim has yet to be identified. The bodies were shifted to morgue for identification. Police said unidentified assailants abducted them before shooting. Their hands were tied with ropes and all of them were shot once in their heads. Their bodies were shifted to morgue Sohrab Goth. A case has been registered against unidentified persons. Further investigation is underway.

An elderly man was shot dead in Disilva Town in North Nazimabad. The victim was identified as Bahadur Khan, 60. He was the resident of the same area. Police officials said Khan was the head of a Jirga in Omar Farooq Colony. Two armed men riding a motorcycle gunned him down when he was going somewhere. The injured was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police officials said the motive behind the incident had yet to be ascertained.

A woman, who was later identified as Asiya Bibi, 55, was killed and Mehrab, 22, was wounded in a firing incident at Rexor Lane in Lyari. Police officials said injured Mehrab was apparently the target of the culprits. The bullets also hit the woman who was standing outside her residence. A case has been registered.

A passenger Kamran, 30, was killed and a policeman Fayyaz, 45, was wounded when armed robbers opened indiscriminate fire inside a passenger bus of route D-1 near Quaidabad.

The victim and the injured were moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police officials said three armed men entered the bus and started looting valuables and cash from the passengers. Bandits started firing when the injured cop offered resistance and tried to catch them. The victim was working at a local restaurant and was the resident of Landhi. The culprits, however, later managed to escape from the scene.

Meanwhile, Wali Muhammad, 24, was killed over offering resistance in a robbing bid. Police officials said the victim was working as a cashier at a petrol pump situated near Safora Chowrangi in Gulistan-e-Jauhar police precincts. The incident took place when he offered resistance in a robbing bid at the petrol pump. The security guards, deployed at the pump, managed to catch one of the two robbers. The accused was later identified as Jamal and was handed over to the police for further investigation.
