Askari Bank donates funds for school
GILGIT (PR): Askari Bank President Syed M. Husaini and Force Command Northern Areas (FCNA) Commander Major General Syed Asim Munir at the inauguration of Askari Block, the junior wing of Army Public School (APS), Gilgit. Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Commander 10 Corps, Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) was the chief guest at the occasion, which was also attended by Askari Bank RGM North-II Shahid Alam Siddiqui. The construction of the Askari Block in the school was funded by the Bank; an initiative which is in line with the Bank’s endeavours for the promotion of education and health in the country’s far-flung areas, where basic amenities are difficult to access.

Oath taking promotes
democratic values in kids
ISLAMABAD (PR): Islamabad College of Arts and Sciences (ICAS) held the oath taking ceremony for its first elected Student Council. Ms. Naureen Raheel, Principal was the chief guest of the ceremony.
The Student Council is an elected body of students who represent their various classes and extra-curricular clubs. Its purpose is to teach students the importance of democratic values and voting.
Mohammad Adam Murtaza, the newly elected head boy of the Middle School said, “Winning the elections has allowed me to take active part in school politics, and given me more freedom to interact with the school faculty.
This experience is making me more confident than before.”
Vera Ayub the newly elected Head Girl of the Middle School said, “People need to follow someone, I was scared initially but after getting elected I feel it is the best thing that has happened to me.”
Other members of the student council were ecstatic at the opportunity of being given more responsibility of managing their affairs and representing their school and friends. Samia Pirzada, Faculty Advisor to the Student Council said, “I am astonished by the sense of responsibility and enthusiasm these students have shown during and after the elections. We are looking forward to a bright and rewarding year ahead of us.”

ABL team visits Sundas Foundation
LAHORE (PR): Munir Ahmed Atiq regional head Allied Bank Limited visited Sundas Foundation and attended on the Thalassaemia, Haemophilia and Blood Cancer patients being treated at Sundas Foundation Lahore Center.
Munir Ahmed Atiq appreciated the mechanism of blood screening and its byproducts. He also visited state of the art Laboratory of Sundas Foundation set up recently for the diagnose and eradication of Thalassaemia from society.
, speaking on the occasion Munir added that chairman of Allied Bank Limited Muhammad Naeem Mukhtar is always there to extend his support for such welfare projects particularly for Sundas Foundation and we as a corporate sector are always standing side by side with such charitable organisations.
He further stated that corporate sector specially and philanthropists like Muhammad Naeem Mukhtar should always come forward to support the mission of Sundas Foundation in eradication of such fatal diseases.

Nestlé, WWF host water symposium
LAHORE (PR): WWF-Pakistan, in collaboration with Nestlé Pakistan, hosted a Water Symposium and marked the launch of Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Standards in Pakistan.
AWS is an international water management standard which aims to drive best water management practices within industrial operations and at the governance level. WWF-Pakistan is facilitating the implementation of AWS standards in Pakistan while Nestlé Pakistan is its first implementing partner.
The standards, being implemented in different parts of the world, promote better management of site-specific water use and the water catchment areas to address shared water concerns related to quality, quantity and governance.
Adrian Sym, Executive Director, AWS, gave an overview of the journey of the AWS Standards from conception to implementation while Carlo Galli, Technical and Strategic Advisor for Water Resources at Nestlé talked about Nestlé Global’s Water Stewardship Initiative. Alexis Morgan, Water Stewardship Specialist, WWF International, gave a global overview of WWF International’s role in the facilitation of AWS and the significance of a business case in the water sector.

UK eye team in Lahore

LAHORE (PR): A medical team consists on eye experts from United Kingdom (UK) reached in the city on the invitation of Al Mustafa Welfare Society. This team would serve in free eye camps which were sponsoring by Al Mustafa Welfare Trust-UK (AMWT)
President Al Mustafa Mian Khalid Habib Elahi Advocate received the medical team on behalf of Chief Patron of Al Mustafa Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab. Dr Sohail Raza Chaudhry from Glasgow is leading the medical team.
He said eye camps would be held in far flung areas according to the following schedule: October 26-28 Pir Mahal, October 30-31 Samahani (Kashmir), November 4-5 Nalla Muslimana, November 7-8 Dobaren Kalan (Kallar Syedan), November 9-10 Chappar Sharif Gujjar Khan, November 11-12 Kotli, November 13-14 Panjeri (Bhimber) , November 15-16 Rajdhani (Azad Kashmir), November 18-19 Haripur (KPK), November 21-22 Barakoh, November 23-24 Rawalpindi, November 27-28 Piplan, Mianwali, November 30 to December 1 Darya Khan, December 5-6 Shahkot (Nankana Sahib), December 7-9 Faisalabad, December 11-12 Lahore and December 24-30 Chiniot.

Citi Lab crosses another milestone
LAHORE (PR): Citi Lab and Research Centre has become the first ever lab of Pakistan which is awarded with international award for medical labs (Pathology services) “ISO Accreditation 15189:2012” by American International organisation, bureau of accreditation registrar. They appreciated the talent and the services.
