Unknown motorcyclists shot dead Jamaat-e-Islami Sialkot leader Tahir Islam in Talwara Mughalaan locality here over a political row.

Reportedly, he was going back home after offering Fajr Prayers in a local mosque, when some unknown riders opened fires on him, killing him on the spot. The attackers fled away by firing in the air.

Police shifted the body to Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital for autopsy. Later, he was laid to rest in a local graveyard in Rangpura-Sialkot. Rangpura police said that there was a political row behind the brutal murder.

Local JI leaders Arshad Mehmood Baggu and Sheikh Attiqur Rehman, Arif Mehmood Sheikh and Muhammad Qazafi Butt strongly condemned the brutal murder, and demanded immediate arrest of the killers.

The slain JI leader was a candidate for councilor in the forthcoming LB polls in union council Talwara Mughalaan. It was the first murder of any political figure and candidate ahead of the coming LB polls scheduled to be held on December 3, 2015 in Sialkot district here.

GRANT FOR SCHOOLS: The Punjab government has approved a special grant of Rs312 million for repairing and reconstruction of 50 school buildings officially declared as dangerous in Sialkot district.

The district administration officers disclosed this during a meeting held with senior officials of the Sialkot Education Department. They said that the repairing and reconstruction of these government schools' buildings would start in a couple of days.
