COLOMBO - Kumar Sangakkara, star Sri Lankan batsman, became the latest player to sign up with the Pakistan Super League . Sangakkara, who was the second-highest run-scorer at the ICC World Cup 2015 with 541 runs in 7 innings, retired from international cricket in August 2015. In an illustrious international career, Sangakkara scored 28,016 runs across the three formats.

The southpaw from Matale, Sri Lanka,brings extensive experience to the PSL draft, having played 594 international matches. He has led various teams in his playing career. He also served as captain of the Sri Lankan team, leading them to the finals of the ICC World T20 2009 and the ICC World Cup 2011.

"Sangakkara is a world-class sportsman and we are excited to welcome him on board. He brings a wealth of experience to the PSL. His inclusion makes the player draft even more exciting," Najam Sethi, chairman of the governing council.

More than 150 foreign players have now signed up with the PSL. Top international players from across the world will be joining leading Pakistani national and domestic players at the Pakistan Super League .

Pakistan Super League will take place between 4-24 February 2016 in Dubai and Sharjah, with five city-based franchises set to take part. Teams from Quetta, Lahore, Peshwar, Karachi, and Islamabad will take part in the first edition.
