KARACHI : Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Labour and Human Resources Senator Saeed Ghani has floated the idea of labourers’ registration through Benazir Mazdoor (Labour) Card (BMC), and linking it with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

In this context, the adviser held a meeting with the officials of the SESSI and NADRA at SESSI Head Office here on Thursday. “The prime agenda of the meeting is to discuss the possibility of linking Sindh Social Security's Registration Card with NADRA. Ghani had given the idea of BMC soon after he took charge of his office as an adviser to Sindh CM on Labour with the objective to enable the workers to get quick and hassle-free access to social security facilities. Accordingly, Nadra was approached for a workable plan last month, whose officials briefed him about the future of BMC, and on how it would enable the labourers to access the facilities being provided by SESSI.  “Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari wants that every labourer be provided with social security facilities in Sindh,” Ghani said.

, adding that the basic purpose of SESSI was to ensure the provision of health and educational facilities to the registered labourers and their families.

“The biometric system would ensure transparency, whereas it would also help the registered workers to receive facilities through one window operations,” Ghani concluded.
